Sekkou exited from the Garganta alone. He stood tall in the dark, foggy streets, here for only a single reason. And that was to gain more power. Sekkou inhaled deeply; he was so huge that one could actually see the fog being sucked into him, and then expelled. He was a bringer of death. And now he had to find his prey.

Sekkou felt around and found a presence that was to his liking. He glided along towards it, hungry for battle. And then he saw the figure that was exuding that peculiar reiatsu. It was a girl in white; she looked to be in her teens. Her clothing resembled traditional Chinese robes. She wore a bracelet around her wrist that had a cross hanging down from it. Sekkou decided he would give her a sporting chance; after all, he was here to train before consuming her. He began charging a Cero, announcing his presence to her.

She turned in surprise, saw him charging that massive ball of energy. The cross at her bracelet began to glow, a bow of reiatsu particles formed in her hands. She appeared to nock an arrow and hold it. Sekkou felt her reiatsu level increase the longer she held the bow. Shall we? he thought, and then fired his Cero. A growing red ball of energy collided with a single blue bolt of reishi particles- there was a large explosion. As the smoke cleared, Sekkou saw the girl standing, nocking another arrow. She was singed, and her clothing was torn. She was bleeding from her left nostril, and blood appeared to be dripping from her fingers.

"It is futile, whatever you are," Sekkou said. "My Ceros are far superior to your arrows."

She looked at him with a face full of pride. "I am Quincy, and on the pride of a Quincy, I will kill you!" She fired another arrow at him. Sekkou brought a hand in front of it and watched it pierce into the flesh of that hand. Blood leaked from the wound.

"You see this?" Sekkou said to her. "You could hit me with a hundred of those arrows, and you would not be able to kill me." He began to charge a second Cero.

She did not say anything as he continued to charge the Cero, but after a brief pause- "A hundred?" she said. "Let's test that theory!" She fired. A hundred arrows flew toward him. Sekkou released his Cero. A second massive explosion. He felt the ground crack underneath him from the strain, felt the world shake. When the dust cleared, he saw the self-proclaimed Quincy standing. She still looked defiant, despite the fact that she had lost her left arm. The Cero had cauterized the wound.

"I am surprised you are still standing," said Sekkou. "I will grant you a quick, painless death." His hand came swooping down toward her; he picked her up and held her up to his mask. "You fought well," he complimented her. And then he threw her into his mouth, absorbing her. He relished the power that came from devouring her. "Quincy..." he said aloud. "I will have to fight more of those soon."

Sekkou appeared from the mouth of a dark Garganta, right where he had killed the strange girl as a Menos. He was curious to see if more of her kind existed, and more importantly, if continuing to hunt and devour them would significantly increase his abilities. He flicked his tail through the air in an excited sort of manner. The anticipation of the hunt was nearly as good as getting to it. Sekkou's forked tongue tasted the air; he snorted a cloud of smoke and sparks in triumph as he sensed the presence of a fairly powerful being.

Sekkou's four-toed claws tread softly against the ground as he ran forward. In this new form, he could run on all fours or on two feet; now he ran on two feet. Sekkou was pleased with the increased stealth this new form brought him. He had regained the abilities he had had as a mere Hollow, and they were stronger too. Sekkou found he could maintain his ability to become invisible for longer now. He could breathe hotter smoke now. And he felt there was something new about him though.

Sometimes he felt as if his skin was just a layer around him, something he could alter to become something else, or at least to take on the appearance of something else. But try as he might, he was unable to get himself to do anything out of the ordinary. He hypothesized that he would be able to do more when he reached Vasto Lorde or possibly even Arrancar level, but for now, he was content.

Anyway, he loped forward easily, his lithe muscles carrying his muscular body smoothly and without effort. As he grew near the source of reiatsu, Sekkou jumped. His jump took him to the top of a building, where he looked down and saw a middle-aged man who was surprisingly fit for his age. He wore white in the same style as the girl had. Sekkou grinned. He jumped down and began charging a Cero from the palm of his right claw as he fell.

The man looked up in surprise as he felt the sudden burst of sinister reiatsu. Sekkou saw something fall from his wrist, and a bow appeared in his hands, much as one had appeared in the girl's hands, though this bow looked more powerful. The man drew back the string and fired. About 20 arrows, each about a yard long shot from it directly towards Sekkou. Sekkou grinned again as he released his Cero, and then pushed off of the side of the building, just in case.

His Cero slammed down into the ground, throwing dust and debris up into the air. Sekkou twisted in midair and fired a Bala from his right claw. And in that instant, Sekkou realized he could fire Balas from other places on his flexible body. He twisted and fired a Bala from his left foot, then his right, then his left claw, then the tip of his tail. Sekkou literally was raining Balas down into the dust as he fell. When he had about 15 meters left to go, he twisted and landed on all fours.

His landing blew away a lot of the dust, to reveal the man still standing, bloody, but still standing and defiant. He raised his bow. "My turn," he whispered. A huge mass of arrows shot towards Sekkou. Sekkou dove to the side, but wasn't quick enough to escape all of them. He felt them tear into his side and inner thighs. Sekkou hit the ground hard. Most of his wounds were superficial, but one of the arrows had torn right through his left bicep. Sekkou hissed in annoyance.

"A quick death for you then," Sekkou said. He jumped and fired a Bala simultaneously from each of his limbs. As he fell he charged a Cero and released it prematurely, sending it ripping into the body of the unable to dodge Quincy. Sekkou approached the charred body. "Still alive..." commented Sekkou in surprise. "I'll remedy that." He swooped down and devoured him.

Sekkou appeared out of the Garganta like a nightmare in a child's dream. His tongue flicked out and tasted the air; Sekkou chuckled appreciatively. The taste of prey was in the air tonight. He loped off across the building the Garganta had opened on and leaped onto the adjacent roof, heading towards the spiritual pressure that he could feel. It was not one of the strange people with arrows- no, this was the reiatsu of a Shinigami.

The Shinigami came into view suddenly, as his black robes had concealed his presence rather well on this moonless night. Sekkou ran on all fours now, reached his peak speed, and then jumped. He came falling down toward the Shinigami, directly above him, reiatsu gathering at his right claw as he plunged it down to split the skull of the man beneath him.

Perhaps he was sensitive to Sekkou's reiatsu; Sekkou did not know for sure, but the man reacted quickly and with obvious skill. His sword came up and slashed at Sekkou. Sekkou twisted in frustration to avoid the attack, miffed that he had lost what he had hoped to be an easy kill. In retaliation, he whipped his tail across, and its pointed tip caught the man a small wound across his face, under his left eye. Sekkou landed directly across from him about eight feet away. He was bleeding slightly from a small gash on his chest, where the Shinigami's sword tip had cut him.

Sekkou began charging a Cero in his right claw. "Dodge this!" He began running at the Shinigami on his two hind legs. The Shinigami assumed a ready defensive stance. Sekkou grinned; sure his plan would work. As he came within three feet of the Shinigami, he jumped again, and smiled wider as he twisted around to watch the Shinigami looking at him warily. Sekkou released the Cero as he fell on the Shinigami's other side. His Cero obliterated a large part of the roof, but unfortunately, Sekkou could still feel the Shinigami's reiatsu.

"Ha!" The Shinigami came flying out of the smoke with his sword aimed to thrust right into Sekkou.

"Hsss!" Sekkou's two 'hands' came together to catch the blade between them, and the two began to plummet toward the ground in a deadly embrace. "Get off!" said Sekkou, and then fired a Bala from his tail and two 'feet'. The three Balas took the Shinigami by surprise and sent him spiraling upward as Sekkou continued to fall. Sekkou twisted his body for the third time that evening to see the ground rushing up at him. He breathed out; his hot breath melted the ground beneath him and he landed with a squelching noise. Sekkou growled and began charging another Cero before quickly jumping back up toward the Shinigami. Apparently, Sekkou was immune to his own heat.

As he flew up, he saw the Shinigami leveling a palm at him, his lips were moving. And then, a burst of blue fire shot from the Shinigami's palm. Sekkou waited until the last possible moment to release his Cero. The two blasts met and seemed to explode in that split second. However, what actually happened was that the blue fire split the Cero a little before fizzling out. The two halves of Cero crashed into the Shinigami and detonated. Sekkou watched as the body of the unconscious or dead Shinigami began falling toward the earth. He chuckled before moving to intercept it.

Sekkou caught the body in his mouth; he quickly tore off the man's arms first to make sure he could not fight back. Obviously dead- the man made no movement in response to the brutal de-limbing. Sekkou sat down and began to enjoy his meal.

Sekkou emerged from the Garganta in good spirits. Today he was going to work on his speed with one of those Quincy people- he was in no doubt whatsoever that their arrows would prove perfect for increasing his speed. Sekkou's tongue tasted the air briefly, and his lips tweaked into a smile as he found a presence to his liking. He loped off across several rooftops, and was heartened when he saw a man in white apparently patrolling around the building Sekkou was currently standing on.

Sekkou had no intention of ambushing the man, so he leaped down and landed a good 30 meters from him. Immediately, the man nocked an arrow and sent it streaking toward him. Sekkou jumped to the side and the arrow exploded harmlessly into the wall behind him. "Hit me if you can!" he taunted the Quincy, and took off running.

The Quincy drew his bow calmly and sent a literal stream of arrows at Sekkou. Sekkou ran to his right, running at top speed while the arrows slammed into objects he passed. All of a sudden, he was forced to hit the ground as the arrows caught up with him. As he hit the ground Sekkou rolled so that he easily got back to his feet. He continued running easily, but realized that he would eventually get hit if he kept this boring routine up.

Sekkou decided to throw the Quincy off a bit by jumping onto the side of wall and literally running along it sideways. As soon as Sekkou felt the arrows nipping at his heels, he pushed off of the wall, propelling himself toward the Quincy and firing a Bala at him. The Quincy dodged out of the way and retaliated with five evenly spaced arrows that came streaking toward Sekkou with terrible speed. Sekkou's momentum carried him past a streetlight; as he passed it, his tail lashed out and whipped him around to send him flying toward the Quincy again.

Sekkou brought his feet down and began running at the Quincy on all fours. All these acrobatics were beginning to tire him, and he felt that he would just use one last burst of speed to take him down. All four of his claws hit the ground at maximum turnover rate as the Quincy fired arrow after arrow at him. Sekkou dodged left to avoid an arrow that crashed to his right a millisecond later. He dodged right to avoid a second arrow, jumped to avoid a third which smashed the ground underneath him as he was airborne for a moment.

Sekkou hit the ground and continued racing toward the Quincy without breaking stride. There was fear in the Quincy's face now, and he was now running away, firing arrows over his shoulder as he ran. These were even easier to dodge than the previous ones, as they came intermittently and at a slower rate. And then Sekkou knew it was time- the Quincy was close enough. He leaped, and his leap carried him crashing into the Quincy from above, where his jaws quickly came down and decapitated the poor man. Sekkou willed the spirit particles he was now consuming to go to strengthening his legs as he chewed away at the corpse.

Sekkou was running hard on all fours. In retrospect, it had probably been a bad idea to attack so many of these so-called Quincys; he should've figured that they were few in numbers and would protect their own based on his not having knowledge of them prior to his time as a Gillian. The reason he was running and thinking these things was because he had three Quincys on his tail right now, two male and one female, and they were firing arrows at him as fast as they could while chasing him.

Sekkou could feel the sparks of the exploding arrows hitting the soles of his clawed feet as he pushed himself to run faster. They were very persistent, and seemed to be able to keep up with him. How he wished he was able to perform Sonido- but unfortunately he was not at that skill level just yet. Sekkou hissed in pain as an arrow grazed his right shoulder. Sekkou decided that he would use every advantage the layout of the city could offer him- it was the only way.

Sekkou ducked into the next alley he ran up to. Several arrows slammed into the ground behind him as he vanished down it; he heard the Quincys shout, "There, he went down that alley!" Sekkou ran desperately at this time, unable to keep out of the Quincys sights- he had picked an alley that did not split until 50 meters ahead. Arrows streaked past him, burning his sides and slicing small cuts in his body.

Sekkou growled and pushed forward, forcing his claws to keep hitting the ground at a steady pace, forcing his lungs to continue working, forcing his heart to keep beating as hard as it possibly could. Sekkou gasped in relief as he rounded the corner to the left, where he skidded to a stop. He could not possibly hope to outrun all three Quincys- not without Sonido. He could keep up though...and therein lay the answer to his survival.

Sekkou quickly turned invisible, and then headed back the way he came, taking the left fork, and jumping to the top of the wall. The three Quincy ran past him and stopped at the intersection. "I saw him run down there!" shouted one of them.

"Where'd he go?!?!" asked the one of the others.

Right behind you, thought Sekkou. He became visible and leaped down upon the nearest Quincy, one of the males. There was no time for toying with him as he might've done had he only one predator, so Sekkou employed a brutal incapacitating technique by stabbing the back of the Quincy's right knee with his tail, and then actually biting his right hand's fingers off. Just as quickly as he ambushed them, Sekkou jumped back to the top of the wall.

The two standing Quincys seemed torn between helping their fallen comrade and going after Sekkou. "Go get him..." said the fallen one weakly. That decided it, they jumped up to follow Sekkou.

"That's right, fight on my terms," said Sekkou. They paused in hesitation, uncertainty; Sekkou saw a little fear in their faces at his bold statement. That hesitation was all he needed. Fast as lightning, Sekkou's tail whipped out and wrapped around the throat of the woman; his right claw darted out and man's throat literally exploded in blood. He fell over backward gurgling as his lifeblood ran out over the concrete and soaked through the clothing of the other fallen Quincy.

"That was a merry little chase, wasn't it?" Sekkou goaded the woman he was now choking with his tail. He jumped down and began devouring her friends right in front of her as she simultaneously cried and tried unsuccessfully to break free of his grip. Finally, when his grisly meal was done, he turned to face her. "I'm going to gut you like a Cornish game hen," he said, and then plunged his left claw into her chest. Blood sprayed out at him from her mouth, but he didn't seem to mind. Instead, he gripped her sternum tightly and quite literally tore it out.

As she blacked out/died, the Quincy heard Sekkou say amidst the sound of chewing, "Entrails don't taste very good- but they are nutritious, hahaha."

Sekkou ran along the side of a building, his chameleon like skin allowing him to run sideways along it as he dodged the arrows flying at him from the bow of the long-haired man standing on the building adjacent of him. "Die you Hollow scum!" shouted the man.

Sekkou pushed off of the building and used Sonido to appear behind the man. He fired a Bala from his right fist directly at the man, but he used Hirenkyaku to avoid the attack; Sekkou's Bala exploded harmlessly on the side of the building he had just vacated. "Not Hollow- Vasto Lorde," Sekkou corrected the Quincy. "Hehehe, I'm sure you've noticed a difference?" Sekkou laughed and began throwing Balas at the Quincy at incredible speed.

Sekkou's Balas didn't really seem to be aimed, Sekkou seemed to only be trying to overwhelm the Quincy with sheer force of numbers. He was throwing Balas so fast that from the side, it seemed almost as if a steady stream of red energy was pouring forth from his whirling claws. The Quincy raised his bow defiantly and blue arrows began pouring from it; every time an arrow hit a Bala, they canceled each other out in small explosions.

Sekkou and his Quincy enemy stood that way for a whole minute, just trying to wear the other out. Sweat beaded on both of their foreheads as they fought to gain the upper hand. Finally, Sekkou grew tired of their exchange and he used Sonido again, this time to appear off to the side of the Quincy. "Here's a trick I learned from a Shinigami!" he shouted. "Bakudo no Yo: Hainawa!" A rope of blue reiatsu shot from his palm and wrapped around the legs of the surprised Quincy.

Sekkou yanked the rope and pulled the Quincy off his feet, sending him flying towards Sekkou. Sekkou quickly began whirling the rope around his head, pouring his reiatsu into it so it would not break. He spun the Quincy faster and faster, jumped into the air so he could spin him around in orbitals around him to disorient him and keep him from thinking of a means of escape. As he spun the Quincy around, Sekkou began charging a Cero in his other claw.

"You feel my reiatsu gathering, Quincy?" he shouted. "Savor that feeling, and despair; it's the last taste of this world you'll ever get!" Sekkou threw the dizzy, disoriented Quincy, and the Quincy flew forward, hit the building adjacent's roof and somehow managed to stand up groggily- only to meet Sekkou's Cero head-on. Sekkou felt the man's reiatsu vanish the instant his Cero touched him. He grinned and used Sonido to bridge the gap between buildings and appear at the barely recognizable corpse's side.

"Messy, but satisfying," he muttered, and proceeded to gorge himself on the Quincy's charred flesh.

Red fire threw up debris all around Sekkou as he nimbly dodged the Shakkaho spells raining down around him by the 5th squad Shinigami that was currently pursuing him. "Oh please, I'm a Hollow and I can do better!" Sekkou turned around leaped, shouted, "Way of Destruction#33: Blue Fire, Crash Down!" and fired off several of his own shots at the Shinigami that was chasing him from above. Sekkou's spells were aimed at the side of the roof, perhaps so that they would knock off chunks of concrete into the Shinigami.

No such luck. The Shinigami leaped from the roof to an adjacent one and then uttered a brief incantation which was quickly followed by black chains erupting from his palm toward Sekkou. Sekkou reacted by grabbing a fistful of the chains and yanking forcefully, but the Shinigami held his ground, shouting "Steadfast" to keep himself stationary.

"Way of Destruction#11: Reading Lightning!" Sekkou sent a surge of electricity up the chain that resulted in a small explosion when it reached the Shinigami, sending him sliding back. Sekkou used Sonido to appear on the roof. Sekkou immediately shot off three Balas the moment he appeared, all of which the Shinigami was somehow able to dodge. "Way of Destruction#4: White Lightning!" Sekkou's spell tore a small chunk off of the slower Shinigami's left arm.

"Had enough?" Sekkou asked. "You're no match for me- didn't you say you were a seated officer?"

The man responded by firing another couple of Shakkaho spells at Sekkou, which Sekkou easily sidestepped. Sekkou shook his head in mock apology. "Simply ridiculous. Way of Binding#9: Strike!" A beam of red light engulfed the man, preventing him from moving. "Don't worry, I'll make it quick," Sekkou reassured him. "Way of Destruction#27: Reishi Blade!" A blue beam of energy surrounded Sekkou's right arm. Sekkou Sonido'd past the man. Behind him, the man was bifurcated vertically, dead before he hit the ground.

Sekkou crouched beside him. "Frankly, I don't think specialization is a good idea in the long run, unless you're on a team. Alone, well, it's better to be a jack of all trades, wouldn't you agree, my friend?" Sekkou began his grisly meal with obvious relish.
