Charging up another cero in his mouth, Ikaru prepared to launch his attack at another foe so that he could test out the strenght of the new power that he had obtained. The buzzing noise of the spirit particles gathering filled his ears as the surrounding area had begun to fill with a red light. Finally reaching the optimum level of strength that he could handle, Ikaru released the cero onto a huge boulder that he had been trying to break through for some time now. The cero struck the boulder with immense force even causing it to shift slightly in the sand that it was embedded in, but it didn't destroy the boulder as Ikaru had wanted to.
Roaring in frustration Ikaru began to wander the area once again looking for something to eat since it couldn't achieve the goal that it had set out to do. The familiar shout of a hollow was heard in the distance so Ikaru moved in that direction until he stumbled into a bat hollow along the road.
Being that hunger was the only thing on his mind, Ikaru had not attempted any trickery or any other means of fighting the hollow other than simply extending his tail and aiming it at the bat hollow. Once the hollow realized that Ikaru was limited to ground combat, the bat seemed to hang around simply so that it could taunt Ikaru in his desperation to eat. While Ikaru was never one to stay hungry for long, his desire for spiritual energy seemed insatiable as he stared hungrily at the hollow that hovered above him.
Suddenly it struck Ikaru that there was a way that he could capture the bat hollow and make it pay for its insolence while feeding his hunger at the same time. Without waiting for any other thoughts to cross his shallow and one track mind, Ikaru opened his mouth and began to charge a cero in his mouth. Straining himself to the point where he flapped his cicada wings with exertion of trying to make a powerful enough cero.
The bat hollow seemed to sense the danger that had just appeared now because it stopped hovering mockingly close to Ikaru and had now decided to distance itself from the hollow. This didn't matter as Ikaru charged the reishi particles in his mouth to the point where the particles had now bound together and began forming a powerful attack with int the depths of Ikaru's mouth.
This time instinct told Ikaru to not just gather the amount of spiritual energy that he could handle for the attack, but to build it up until he could no longer hold anymore power in the cero without it exploding. Guided by the allure of feeding upon the spiritual energy of the bat, Ikaru continued to gather energy beyond the point that he could control the power. Finally after a long time of powering up the attack Ikaru closed his mouth with his eyes locked on the bat as he compressed the spiritual energy into a small condensed attack that would explode once he opened his mouth.
Trying to focus the power into his mouth was no easy task for Ikaru as his focus to feed upon the bat clouded his mind to the point where he couldn't focus the spiritual energy in his mouth properly enough to compress it. Eventually the swelling mass of energy didn't develop into a cero, rather it exploded in Ikaru's mouth causing him to fly backward several feet through the sand. Regaining his balance upon his powerful legs, Ikaru used his insect eyes to scour the dark, night skies of Hueco Mundo in order to see whether he had missed out on his dinner or not, but fortunately the bat still hovered a few meters away from him arrogantly.
Fury and frustration caused Ikaru to let out a roar as he eye the winged monster that flapped its wings at him in rhythm, taunting him to do something about its defiance towards his existence. Not only was Ikaru hungry, but now dark anger had clouded its mind as it focused solely on the bat hollow that was causing it so much anger and pain. Suddenly he opened his mouth and spirit particles noisily made their way into his mouth in the form of a cero.
Through anger, Ikaru was able to gather the spiritual particles in an accelarated rate which caused the cero to grow in size very quickly. As before, Ikaru's focus and determination to form a perfect cero attack caused much strain on his body as it twisted and writhed in an attempt to make this next attack devasting enough to make its foe into his dinner. The sand began to swirl from the amount of energy that Ikaru had been gathering which gave him a new thirst; not only did he want to feed without stopping upon the flesh on the bat hollow, but he wanted to use this cero to blow the hollow out of the sky and into his mouth.
Compressing the spirit particles this time were very easy for Ikaru as his anger gave him the control and will to force the particles to subjugate to his whim as he opened his mouth once again aiming for his potential bat meal. The red light escaped his mouth with the sound of a furious vacuum and Ikaru knew that the attack had been his best attempt yet which meant that he would have a dinner very shortly if things worked to his advantage
