Dear Members,
Our admin team has lost a valuable team member, our head admin Xav. Sal and I will miss him a great deal personally. Xav has asked us to take good care of BWF in his stead. Real Life does, unfortunately, take precedence. So we wish him well, and look forward to seeing more of Yummie (hopefully) now that Xav has more time.
Sal and I have gone over a number of issues we’ve noticed on site. It is our first duty to make sure we have a safe and entertaining site for our members. Our first concern is that we’ve noticed our Stat Point system is getting bogged down as our membership has swelled. Success is wonderful for our site and the variety of RP our members can find here. Sill, it is important for our team to be able to award the stat points promptly as we do understand that too much delay in the awards really does sap much of the joy out of the experience. Plus overwork kills admins! Due to this issue, we have decided to pull together a cadre of Moderators who will be able to handle the Stat Point Award work, while Sal and I handle the Administrative side of things. And hopefully, have enough time to RP with you guys a bit as well!
It’s worth a moment to say this, as well. Each of our mods will have a different style and particular features that they respond to best in another’s writing. That’s life. You will get the stat levels you want over time, if you work at it. So please, no ‘
It’s Not Fair’ complaints unless you have found yourself the target of genuine harassment according to the posted site rules. Life isn’t fair, neither is
any forum site. Sometimes that will be your good luck. Sometimes it will be another’s. But all our staff will strive to be even handed and to uphold the quality of everyone’s writing for the enjoyment of all.
There are a few adjustments to the Stat Point System that we’d like you to make note of. Sal is preparing a detailed post to explain the new policy for you. One of the big changes there is that we will be implementing a new system for Kido spell levels. You will combine your Intelligence/Kido stats which will add up to the level of Kido spell you are allowed to use. We figured the ‘intelligence’ stat is unenforceable, as who’s going to judge how ‘smart’ or ‘stupid’ you’ve written your character in each post? Not me! This adjustment to policy allows the stat to have some useful features and I believe opens up some intriguing new possibilities for our characters.
The Kido and Intelligence stats will remain capped at 50 each. For our more ambitious members, we are uncapping the other stats. Be warned, the level of quality required for that 51st stat will go up very far, you’ll really have to earn it. But for the Shinigami/Arancar on the go, they may consider ambition back in style. It is our hope that this will keep BWF a competitive environment for the higher level members, while keeping the playing field level enough to appeal to the low stat RPers.
For those who have an eye on a particular leadership position amid the Shinigami guard or the Aranacar ranks, we will maintain the status quo to hold onto continuity for the general membership through the majority of the time, but assign events where the up and comers from the ranks can challenge a ranking member for their seat. Stat points will be a factor, but not the deciding one. At these times, the Admin team will put up a thread with certain rules and allow challengers and incumbents to hold a non-lethal sparring match. We will judge the results and appoint a winner.
Please keep in mind, these seats have responsibilities to their squad or marauding horde of hollows. If that isn’t for you, then don’t challenge the captain/aranacar.
You will also notice we are scrapping the Zanpakuto Energy feature, previously found between the ‘
Where the Hell Am I?” and the registration date on the profile feature visible to the left on all posts. We believe the stats will do better at handling levels, as the ZE feature was generated by the number of posts, rather than their quality.
