Ryouta appeared in the middle of a Real World city that he had been told was called “Manhattan.” He gripped the hilts of his Zanpakutos impatiently- waiting for his teammates was such a pain sometimes. He pulled out the folder that he had been given that briefed him on the mission and skimmed through it again. “Typical reconnaissance…” he muttered to himself. “And they’re sendin’ four Vice-Captains just because the reiatsu fluctuations have been fairly large. It’s probably just a part that needs repairin’ in their scanners.” He continued to skim through the folder as he waited for his fellow Vice-Captains to arrive.

Kaiyo appeared quickly next to Ryouta; her smile filled with excitement. The small girl tilted her head slightly at Ryouta, before she began to giggle awkwardly, 'Were we meant to keep thos folders?' kaiyo ran her hanf through the back of her hair awkwardly, since her and ryouta had fought at the annual tournament she hadn't spoken to him much.

Although Kaiyo was still slightly annoyed she wasn't too bothered, the blonde girl sat down in the air, taking in a large breath of air as she waited for the other two to arrive.

Ryouta smiled at Kaiyo's arrival. "Nope. But ah...the 12th Squad guy who briefed me...he *dropped* it." Ryouta chuckled. "I meant to give it back, but well, I guess I forgot. How very convenient."

"oioi Amane-san you better make this up to me, your squads request woke me from such a great dream, now instead of resting im out here looking for the source of some reiatsu disturbance" *sighs* "whatta pain" The voice echoed out in a disgruntled tone the glow behind the enshadowed figure began too dim as the senkai gate that had led him to this town began too dissapear.

As jin walked forward he entered the better lit region where Ryouta stood the shadows around his body were cast off and his weary feature became obvious in full veiw, his work load wasnt giving him much time for sleep these day so to be given a mission like this when he could've been resting just plain pissed him off

"Hey hey Jin, wasn't my Squad that assigned ya to this mission, was 12th. They want us to check it out; guess those reiatsu fluctuations are cause for alarm or somethin' like that." Ryouta looked slightly cheerful as he spoke those words. "Hmm, I wonder where Shikyo is...not like 'im to be late. Oh well." Ryouta twirled his Zanpakutos with casual panache.

ooc: k, so as we all feel this is reconnaissance, we split up. then, we all get attacked by an Adjuchas level Hollow. if you want me to make one up for you, just PM me and i'll make one up for you. you have an idea for your opponent, knock yourself out writing him/her.

The black cloak gripped tightly to Shikyo's skin as the wind whipped around him as he entered into the real world. Looking around he noticed three figures gathered together not far from his position. He knew that he was assigned an all lieutenants mission, but was unaware of which vice-captain's would actually show up. Nearing the group he immediately recognized two of them and saw a third vice-captain he hadn't met yet. "Good to see you again Kaiyo, Ryotua." Turning to the man he didn't yet he introduced himself. "!0th Squad Vice-Captain Shikyo Yoshi, and you are..."

"Vice-captain of the 6th squad Jin Yagami" Jin replied finishing the man's sentance, "ahhh jesus the 12th squad we'll probably just turn out too be guinea pigs in some kinda sick experiment" Jin commented on the verge of whining as he finished his sentence he bagan muttering about regretting his acceptance of this position and how it brought nothing but more work.

Once his quiet rant was finished he looked up with a slight scowl on his face " well i suppose we should be getting on with this then, i didnt really catch the details of the mission i was only half awake, why exactly are we here?"

"Reconnaissance," said Ryouta with a grin. "Find out what's causin' these wild fluctuations. Hehehe, this is gonna be fun. If we make it fun." He walked to the edge of the building they were standing on. "The sooner we find out what's goin' on, the sooner we're done, Jin, so I suggest we split up. We'll contact each other via Hell Butterfly if we find anythin'. I'll take the financial district. See ya!"

Ryouta jumped off the edge of the building. "Woohoo!" He disappeared as he flash stepped away toward the financial district area.

kaiyo jumped to her feet and nodded to the rest of her team, she wasn't sure about districts so Kaiyo aimed for where she figured the most spiritual energy was from, pointing decisively in the oppsoit direction to Ryuota, 'I call that way' the excited girl leapt off the edge of building.

"Hmph that guy always was too eager" Jin sighed looking back too the man who had introduced himself as the luitenant of the 10th squad "well i guess if this is going too hold any interest for me at all ill go and see if the source of these fluctuations resides in the red light district" he said with a smirk "so dont worry about the east side of town ill cover that area"

with that said he walked forward off the building using hohou to walk across the sky as though it were solid ground, unlike Ryouta he wasn't in such a rush for this objective whatever was causing this was probably minor and there was only a 1/4 chance it would actually be him who found it anyways so he just continued at his casual pace walking forward to his destination

Shikyo watched as the others exited the roof in their separate directions. "Well I guess that leaves the west side of town." He mumbled to himself. He wasn't sure what to expect with these reiatsu fluctuations but he would accept almost any mission if it meant that he could leave his office for a few hours. He leapt off the side of the building and allowed himself to fall through the air, landing gracefully on his feet on the ground below.

Moving through the district, each of the buildings a little less raggedy than the next one he saw, he wondered why any type of spiritual pressure would choose this place to reside. Deciding that it would be better to survey the area from a higher vantage point he scaled the nearest building, running up the wall with little effort until he reached the top. Placing one foot on the edge as he used his right hand to block the sun from his vision he peered into the distance, trying to discern where the spiritual distortion originated so that he could deal with the possible threat.

PostSubject: Re: Lieutenant Mission to Manhattan   Fri Jul 03, 2009 4:46 pm

Ryouta’s flash steps brought him to the middle of the financial district of Manhattan. He looked around. Nothing seemed amiss. However, there was a strange reiatsu that he was feeling…a Hollow? It was certainly no Shinigami. But it didn’t feel like any Hollow reiatsu Ryouta had ever felt before. Ryouta drew his Zanpakutos and readied himself for battle.

The reiatsu seemed to be coming from down a dark alley…Ryouta began walking down it cautiously. At the end, he found a small round looking device- the source of the reiatsu? It certainly felt like it. “I’ve never seen anythin’ like this before…” he examined it more closely, and then put it in his robes. “12th Squad’ll wanna have a looksee at that. Mystery solved.” Ryouta was about to send a Hell Butterfly to alert his fellow Vice-Captains when the reiatsu he had just felt seemed to swell. “What th-?!”

Ryouta whirled to see an enormous Adjuchas. It stood anywhere between 25 and 35 feet tall, by Ryouta’s estimate. Its skin was reddish gray and bulged with muscle. Its mask resembled that of a rhinoceros. It roared at him. Ryouta regarded it with a bored expression, and then flash stepped. His flash step carried him to the Adjuchas’s right shoulder. Ryouta’s blades bit into the flesh and cut through about a foot and a half before he had to yank them out.

The Adjuchas slapped at him with its left hand; Ryouta flash stepped to avoid the attack and faced the Adjuchas again. His flesh is dense…thought Ryouta. I could barely even cut through. I bet his mask is even tougher to cut through…

Ryouta brought his hands together so the tips of his blades were touching each other. “Hado no Sanjuhachi: Cannon of the Just.” Reiatsu glowed around the blades and formed a cannon around them. “Die, Adjuchas.” Ryouta fired the cannon. A glowing ball of reiatsu shot from the mouth of the cannon and slammed into the Adjuchas, throwing it hard against the wall of a skyscraper.

It roared at him. “You pay for that Shinigami!” It threw a punch at him. Surprised that his kido spell had only pushed it back, Ryouta tried to dodge, but he was too late. The punch caught his side and sent him crashing through the window of a nearby office building. Ryouta brushed some papers and a stapler off him as he groaned and got back to his feet. The Adjuchas reached into the building and grabbed him before he could clear the disorientation from his head.

“Whoa-!” Ryouta’s yell was cut off as the Adjuchas dragged him through the rest of the glass windows. It roared at him as it yanked him high above its head. Ryouta’s face, arms, and chest were covered in bruises and cuts. “Damn…it.” The Adjuchas began to lower him closer to its face. Ryouta struggled valiantly to get it to loosen its grip, but to no avail. Desperately, he shouted, “Hado no Juichi: Tsuzuri Raiden!” Electricity crackled down the length of the Adjuchas’s arm and electrocuted it. It roared, and loosened its grip for a second, allowing Ryouta to free a single arm. However, the Adjuchas quickly tightened its grip on him once more. “Aargh!” Ryouta yelled as it brought him closer to its face again. Ryouta pointed his free arm and his Zanpakuto up at the air and recited as quickly as possible, “Let mine enemies feel thy burning heat! Let them feel despair at your foreboding clouds! Let them die cursing your speed! Hado no Yoju: Lightning Strike!”

Ryouta’s spell sent a shot of yellow reiatsu up into the sky. Dark foreboding clouds gathered in the sky. The Adjuchas looked up. “Huh?” A huge bolt of lightning shot from the clouds and targeted the Adjuchas. The Adjuchas attempted to dodge, but the bolt of lightning actually took off the arm at the elbow that had been holding Ryouta.

As Ryouta fell, he pointed his Zanpakutos at the screaming Adjuchas. “Hado no Sanjusan: Sokatsui!” The shot of blue fire erupted from his blades and hit the Adjuchas in the face, sending it tumbling backward where it hit the ground with a dull thud. It roared, letting Ryouta know it was not dead yet. It scrambled to its feet and swung a massive fist at Ryouta. Ryouta flash stepped onto the swinging fist and stabbed deep into it with his blades, yanked them free and jumped off again.

“Raargh!” the Adjuchas clutched at its bleeding fist- or at least, it tried to with its smoking stump of an arm. As it roared, it formed a Cero in its mouth. “Raaaaaargh!” It fired the Cero.

Sh*t! “Bakudo no Nijunana: Heavy Shell Barrier!” A blue shell-shaped barrier appeared in front of Ryouta; the Cero hit it and seemed to around it. Ryouta yelled in pain as the Cero hit him. It sent him flying back and into the side of a dumpster. As he got up, he smiled slightly. The barrier had minimized the damage he took from the Cero; he was still in the fight.

Ryouta flash stepped out of the smoke and pointed a blade at the Adjuchas. “Bakudo no Sanjuhachi: Spider’s Web!” Spools of white thread erupted from the tips of Ryouta’s blades- they formed a web that trapped the Adjuchas against the wall of a skyscraper. It strained violently against the web. Ryouta saw it give way in several places.

“Uh…By their hands; drain them of their gifts. Bakudo no Sanjuni: 7 Pillars of Sin!” Seven blasts of reiatsu shot from his palms and slammed into the Adjuchas. It roared as its reiatsu was drained from it; then it roared again as it still struggled against its bonds. “Damned persistent…” Ryouta muttered. He pointed his blade at the Adjuchas and drew a triangle with it. “Bakudo no Sanju: Shitotsu Sansen.” Three prongs of light shot from the corners of the triangles and pinned the Adjuchas. It roared and continued struggling.

“Mother f-!” Ryouta stopped himself. “Whatever, yer dead. Hado no Nijunana: Reishi Blade!” The spell traveled down both his blades, lengthening them. Ryouta focused the reiatsu and caused it to vibrate at high speed. “Time to die, Adjuchas.” He flash stepped in front of its mask and plunged both blades into it. He twisted and ripped the Adjuchas’s mask in half lengthwise. As the Adjuchas faded away, Ryouta sent out a Hell Butterfly to each of his fellow lieutenants to call them back to where they first came out of the Senkai gate.

He sheathed his Zanpakutos and flash stepped back to their original position. Based on the discovery of the reiatsu giving device, and the appearance of the Adjuchas, Ryouta surmised that there was more going on here than they had first expected. As he appeared on the roof of the building they had first appeared on, he glanced around. None of his fellow lieutenants was there yet. He could only stay here and wait, hoping that they had not met anything more sinister than the Adjuchas he had met.

ooc: kido and intel please

ooc: Fighting Skill here please

Feeling the raised spiritual pressure of one of his comrades, Ryouta from what he could tell, Shikyo knew that they were in the right place. He'd faced some lower-level Adjuchas before and knew that they'd overwhelmed some of his seated members but was confident that with four vice-captains patrolling the area, any threat would be quickly nullified. He removed the staff from his back as he passed through the streets, the people there obviously oblivious to his presence since he was not in a gigai and most of the inhabitants could not see spirits.

From the perspective of those living in Manhattan all they saw was a sudden explosion that rocketted forth from one of the taller buildings, sending glass raining down upon any who dared to be out at this time of night. Fire and smoke erupted from the building as the onlookers cried out "earthquake!" and immediately attempted to move from the vicinity. Shikyo, however, knew better. The origin of the sudden damage revealed itself in the form of a grotesque creature the size of an elephant but gave the appearance of a reptilian creature encased in bone armor. A clawed hand reached out from the side of the building as crushed another section of the glass as the beast launched itself back into the air.

Scaling up the side of a building, Shikyo propelled himself toward the creature, exerting his spiritual pressure as his body cut through the night air like a knife through butter, his cloak whistling in the wind. Spinning his Zanpakuto as he neared the creature he attempted to impale its mask, a move that he'd known from past experiences with hollow, would immediately crack their only link to this realm and dispose of them. He never reached it however as the clawed arm of the hollow moved with a speed not typical for any adjuchas he'd faced before. Turning his body as he brought the staff in front of him, he managed to block the brunt of the attack but was still sent hurtling into the roof of an adjacent building.

The hollow allowed itself to fall atop the same rooftop Shikyo landed, the force of the impact leaving a meteor sized crater in the building. Lifting himself up as he faced the creature Shikyo realized that he would need to exert more effort than he thought if he was going to defeat this beast. Extending the staff above his head as a golden light slowly encased his body, Shikyo announced his release, "Scatter the Sands Miku!" The golden energy that exploded from Shikyo's body, whipped around the area, forcing the hollow to cover its mask with its arms as it was pushed back a few feet. The golden particles of sand rotated above Shikyo's head, waiting for Shikyo's command. Pointing his now golden sword toward the ground, Shikyo held the black hilt and sprinted toward the creature, flash-stepping at the last moment as he appeared in front of the creature's face, slashing violently left and right at the hollow's mask, slicing it in half horizontally before it broke and the hollow released one final roar before disappearing into the night.

Breathing heavily as he landed on the edge of the buiding, Shikyo resealed his sword, the sand converging upon the blade as the emerald staff reformed itself. That was not as easy as he'd originally thought it would, and that was definitely not a normal hollow. Leaping into the sky as he flew toward the reiatsu of Ryouta, he intended to get more answers concerning why they were really there.
