I was thinking of using this as an avatar when I become a lieutenant. I was also planning on coloring it later, but for now it's just black and white. What do you guys think?

i still haven't quite got the hang of drawing hands/arms and facial features- especially eyes. sometimes they look inquisitive like i want them to, other times they come out looking kinda emo/goth...oh well

Hands are the hardest to do....i haven't drawn in about two years but when I used to those gave me the most trouble...that and being colour blind >.>

yeah, especially for me them gripping the hilt of the weapon or whatever. even just freely hanging they're a real pain to draw. that's why i like drawing shinigami robes...they're easy and they look cool

What i used to do was find something of equal width to what i want to draw, for the handle of a sword i'd use something like a brush/broom handle. I'd get it into the position i wanted my char to have his at and then through various pose and draws i'd get something pretty decent outta it.

that's a good idea, i'll try it for maybe a future drawing

i know this is really premature, but i'm an ambitious guy. since ryouta is a lovable amalgam of myself, kyoraku and urahara, this is what i picture him looking like as a captain. if you can't see it, there's a character on top of his hat that means "love", which is what the 5th squad's flower stands for
i realize the coloring job is pretty bad, but all i have are crayons i'm too cheap to buy better lol
