Kajitora stepped through the Senkaimon leading to the world of the living. He was wrapped in a light brown cloak that he found particularly comfortable. His shining black eyes and hair reflected the streetlights of the human city. His ponytail was flinged from side to side as he turned his head to see the vibrant display of lights illuminating the city before him. The shinigami’s childish smile lit up his round face as he absorbed the sight and sounds that now surrounded him. He tested the name of the city out on his lips, “New…York.” Kajitora liked the way ‘york’ sounded, it was funny. With pep in his step, he walked further into the city looking for his rendezvous point.

The night air was chilly but only Kajitora’s face could feel it thanks to the long cloak he wore. The buildings were tall; there were elegant buildings mixed with less extravagant buildings but they all added to the cities grandeur when covered in shadow. As Kajitora exited an alley and walked across a basketball court (which he had read about before coming), he was almost knocked down to a knee by a strong spiritual pressure. The shinigami caught himself and was fine once he adjusted to the spiritual pressure that he realized was actually as strong as his. The fence oppose of the alley began to shake under the pressure and the basketball goals swayed a little as a figure hopped over the fence with ease. As the shadowy figured approached, Kajitora put his hand on his sword hilt and asked calmly, “Who are you?”

The only answer was the clacking of footsteps on the court. The shinigami threw off the cloak and drew his sword. With his sleeves pulled up, his arms enjoyed the breeze but he ignored the sensation and focused on the possible enemy. As the mysterious person came into the light of the streetlight behind Kajitora he could see a female. His jaw dropped, and he also let go of his sword. The red-headed girl with her penetrating blue eyes winked at him and smiled. Kajitora immediately remembered his last memory of the young woman, and she was screaming and burning alive because of him.

Her voice brought him back to the present, soft and eerie as it was, “Looks like you’ve calmed down a bit since we last met. How have ya been, 3rd Seater?”

Kajitora’s eyes squinted as he realized that he was hallucinating, that his dead enemy was standing before him healthier than ever. He glared at the gauntlets on her hands, remembering the pain they could cause. She frowned, “I guess I’ll start since you don’t seem to be in a talking mood this time.”

Kajitora took a defensive stance and told his mind to stop wondering and focus. As the resurrected Grace O’ Malley charged and threw her fist in Kajitora’s direction, the shinigami moved his sword to block. Just as he thought she was about to connect he memorized her last movement he could see and then let out a Kiai shout that he had been charging up since she finished talking. At that moment he released the Kiai shout and mixed it with his reiatsu, producing a powerful sound wave that could stop his opponent. As the deafening sound washed over the Bounto, she was indeed stopped…but only temporarily. Kajitora didn’t take the time to move backwards, he readied his sword and noticed that she was not aiming at the same target she had originally aimed at. Instead of the shinigami’s stomach, she had changed her aim to his chest. After storing his new information, Kajitora attempted to make a sword cut but it was too late, Grace busted through the sound wave and connected full force with the boy’s chest. Kajitora was lifted off his feet with the power of the blow, his eyes exploded open and saliva projected from his mouth as he was momentarily paralyzed.

As he fell to his knees, Kajitora thought to himself, it’s just like last time. But I think I’ve figured out what she is doing. It’s simply redirection at the last moment but something is blocking my view of it at the last moment. Grace stood over him and smiled, “Welcome to my world, shini. This time…you die!”
